Christina Taylor-Green attended Representative Gifford's meeting yesterday because of her interest in government.
She was born on 9/11 and featured in a book called "Faces of Hope" that chronicled one baby from each state born on the day terrorists killed nearly 3,000 people.

Christine had been a member of her school council. At her young age, she was already involved and responsible. Her loss was caused by the deep division in our body politic.
Anger can lead to destabilizing rage. Murderous rage has already led to multiple killings. There are 15 other members of Congress posted on Palin's site who haven't retired or yet been assaulted. I hope this terrible tragedy will prove to be a leavening agent in the violent war of words both on this site and across our country.
Arizona and America have lost an esteemed federal judge, one of Gifford's beloved staffers, and one of 9/11's Faces of Hope. It is my fervent hope and prayer that this tragedy need not repeat itself in our country, and that the anger levels decrease in our discussions here.
Today I received an email from a dkos member referring to the many attacks mounted towards site monitor and front pager Meteor Blades. As was noted, when he steps in to stop an out-of-bounds confrontation, there is often an immediate and bitter pile-on against him. When any of us descends to the use of threats and overly harsh language, we descend to a position from which nothing positive can be accomplished.
I hope and pray, that when we feel free to speak, we do so without threats of violence. Yesterday's harsh events were a lesson we don't need to re-learn.
