Welcome to our Netroots for the Troops, Inc. Holiday Fundraiser: Twelve Days of Christmas Blog! Today is the Twelfth day of Christmas, and the diary is entitled "Twelve Drummers Drumming".
We are banging the drums for our guys and gals in uniform. Please dig deep and share what you can. Let's show our troops that we care. This is the last day of our fundraiser, and anything you can pitch in will go to help bring needed supplies and comfort items for our troops.

In case you didn't catch our shoutout before today, it's Christmas Eve and a great time to share with those who serve.
The Twelve Days of Christmas are hung on the ancient system of twelves, which has much significance in the Bible. Twelve is the product of 3 (the perfectly Divine and heavenly number) and 4 (the earthly, the number of what is material and organic). So it follows that before there were twelve apostles, there were twelve gates to the city, twelve patriarchs, and twelve angels. There is a persistence of twelves throughout the bible.
The significance of the carol the Twelve Days of Christmas is almost lost. But it has been traditional to celebrate 12 days for Christmas since medieval times, starting on Christmas Day. The Yule log dragged in on Christmas Eve was kept alight for 12 days and it was thought bad luck if the log went out in that 12 days.
In the Twelve Days of Christmans, the twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed. The twelfth point of the Creed is the belief in the life everlasting.
